In this day of every sort of social media platform, where “instant” friends and virtual bffs turn up at every click, it’s not hard to find people with common interests and make instant connections. But sometimes, when you filter out all the social noise, you realize there’s a deeper connection that requires a collaborative effort and this shoot late last fall was the culmination of just that. When I met Charmaine Mallari and connected with her I knew instantly I wanted to work with her. Charmaine is Winnipeg based, and I grew up in Winnipeg so we had that in common for starters. And on top of that, we both love horses and cake and photographing and eating them. (cake, we like eating cake… there were definitely no animals harmed in the making of this shoot). We were incredibly fortunate to have so many extremely talented Winnipeg vendors on board for this shoot. The stylists, the models, the location, and vendors were all so incredibly generous and amazing!! And the result made all the planning and hard work SO worthwhile. But I don’t need to tell you that when the photos say it all so much better than I can.
